On May 21st, Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB) sent a letter to the Honourable Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education on behalf of the Board of Trustees, requesting that Bluewater students be allowed to return to in-person learning as soon as possible.
In the letter, the Board cites the consistent trend of low COVID-19 case numbers in the region and that a return to school is imperative for the well-being of student mental health.
While not all parents may opt to have their children return to the classroom, many families have also expressed difficulty managing on-line learning for their children while, at the same, maintaining parents’ work schedules and responsibilities.
Grey Bruce Public Health have also advocated for an approach to re-opening schools due to the favourable circumstances that are unique to the Bluewater District area.
