High-risk situation in Tara ends peacefully

On December 17, 2019 at 5:16 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to a high-risk situation along Yonge Street in Tara.

The South Bruce OPP initiated road closures around the residence in the interest of public safety. The closures were at Bruce County Road 10 and Concession 6, Mary Ann Street and Yonge Street, Bruce County Road 10 and Concession 6.

A number of specialized OPP resources were engaged to assist the South Bruce OPP with the incident including OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Negotiators, OPP Canine Unit and the South Bruce OPP Crime Unit.

At 11:30 a.m., a male was taken into custody by members of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) without incident.

This was an isolated incident and there was no threat to public safety.
