Pet of the Week: Bear – a melding of two lovable breeds

Grey Bruce Animal Shelter offers a safe place for pets that have no choices left.
“Sometimes, their owners have had no choice either. They, too, may have aged and had to move into a facility where their loved companions are not allowed or, in the final step of life, may have died leaving their pets behind,” says Shelter Manager, Deb Takeda.  “Whatever the reason, these faithful friends have no choice but to wait … wait for someone new to take them in and love them.”
Sometimes too, however, they come from very unusual circumstances that are unfair for anyone, human or otherwise.

Meet Bear.  This handsome boy is a one-year-old Lab-Bernese X and is as lovable as they come.

Bernese mountain dogs are a breed that generally does well with children, as they are very affectionate. They are patient dogs that take well to children clambering over them.

Combine that with the Lab that also tends to be highly affectionate toward people, even strangers, and does exceptionally well with children and other dogs and it’s no wonder he is so lovable.

Bear is a bit territorial about his food and toys around other dogs but, otherwise, he enjoys being out on walks with his furry friends.

He still has some youthful exuberance so will need an active home and a fenced yard. Bear is awaiting a neuter appointment and then will be ready to go.
