Queen’s Park Summer Session continues

Minister of Education, Lisa Thompson, and the Ontario PC Government are continuing to deliver on campaign promises during the summer session at Queen’s Park.

This week, the Government passed the Urgent Priorities Act, which increases accountability and transparency at Hydro One, cancels energy contracts signed by the last administration, and sends students back to the classroom at York University.

On top of this, the government tabled legislation that will, if passed, end the cap-and-trade carbon tax scheme.

“We have truly hit the ground running. We passed our first piece of legislation that will lower hydro rates and send students back to the classroom. Now we will begin our work to scrap Ontario’s cap-and-trade carbon tax scheme,” said Huron-Bruce MPP and Minister of Education, Lisa Thompson. “This is an important step in fulfilling our promise to lower gas taxes by 10 cents per litre,” she added.

Thompson and the PC Government will be back at the legislature in the coming weeks to continue working on behalf of Ontario families and businesses.
