On March 21, South Bruce Council appointed Ron Schnurr to fill a vacant council seat representing the Mildmay-Carrick Ward.
Council decided to fill the vacancy through appointment after Councillor Audrey Bross resigned earlier this year.
That process took place during a special meeting on March 21. As a result, Schnurr was selected and sworn in to represent the Mildmay-Carrick Ward.
Ron “Huck” Schnurr, former councillor for South Bruce, is a fourth-generation resident of South Bruce who has lived in the community his entire life. He has four children, nine grandchildren and has worked in agriculture for numerous years. Schnurr has been part of numerous local organizations including local sports organizations, homecoming planning and municipal committees.
Mayor Mark Goetz said he felt that Schnurr would be a great addition to the council, adding that his previous experience as a councillor and his current involvement with numerous community committees would be an asset. “I’m excited to collaborate with Councillor Schnurr to continue the work of this council,” Mayor Goetz said.
