It may have been a small group but they made their voices heard as they joined the millions of others around the world who are ‘Singing for Greta” and singing for the planet.
Greta Thunberg is the well-known Swedish 16-year-old climate activist who has started a movement to urge governments to take climate seriously.
She is speaking at the United Nations after sailing across the Atlantic Ocean in a solar-powered vessel.
On Saturday, Geordie Farrell, co-founder of the Saugeen Track and Field Club (STFC), hosted a ‘sing for the planet’ event at her property. “It’s our generation that has made a mess of the planet and we have to do something for our grandchildren who will inherit the mess,” she said pointing to her two grandchildren, Landyn and Mykenzie Wolfe.

Farrell, together with Liz Armstrong and Linda Rosier organized the event at Farrell’s property in Saugeen Shores and encouraged everyone to continue to promote the song wherever and whenever possible.
Sophie Champagne also said that there will be a Global Climate Strike on September 27th and locally at Owen Sound City Hall at 4:30 p.m. “This is part of an international strike for climate,” she said. “Youth are rising up around the world to have a voice in protecting their right to their own future and are imploring everyone to strike with them.”

SING FOR THE CLIMATE – DO IT NOW!
We need to wake up
We need to wise up
We need to open our eyes
And do it now now now
We need to build a better future
And we need to start right now
We’re on a planet
That has a problem
We’ve got to solve it, get involved
And do it now now now
We need to build a better future
And we need to start right now
Make it greener
Make it cleaner
Make it last, make it fast
and do it now now now
We need to build a better future
And we need to start right now
No point in waiting
Or hesitating
We must get wise, take no more lies
And do it now now now
We need to build a better future
And we need to start right now
