Thanks to a Community Fund Grant from Corteva AgriScience – Pioneer Hi-Bred, Legacy Crop Solutions was recently able to support the ‘Break Bread’ Community Meals program, operated out of the Chesley Baptist Church.

Founded in 2018, the ‘Break Bread’ program provides free sit-in, take-out, and delivery of meals to anyone in need across Chesley, Elmwood, Durham, Hanover, Walkerton, and surrounding areas. Every second Thursday, volunteers serve up to 125 hot, nutritious lunches, offering food, friendship, and hope to seniors, families, those in crisis, and people experiencing homelessness.

Entirely volunteer-driven and funded by community donations, the program also distributes food bank items, clothing, and hygiene supplies, while connecting guests with on-site support from CMHA Grey Bruce, paramedics, housing workers, and outreach professionals.

“Break Bread is about more than just a meal—it’s about dignity, connection, and community,” said a program volunteer. “For many people, it’s the only nutritious meal or friendly face they have all week. We’re so grateful to Legacy Crop Solutions and Pioneer for helping us to keep this lifeline going.”

With rising demand and limited resources, the program continues to rely on donations and community partnerships to sustain its impact. The support from Legacy Crop Solutions and the Corteva Community Grant ensures that the program can continue offering nourishment, care, and compassion to those who need it most.
