At its September meeting, 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce selected the Tara Area Food Bank to receive its record donation of $41,700. This remarkable contribution reflects the generosity of our members and the power of collective giving. As our membership continues to grow, so does our impact across Grey Bruce.
“Every member makes this possible,” said Lynda Legge, Chair of 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce. “When hundreds of women each commit to giving, we can make a significant difference for organizations doing vital work in our communities. Every member matters, and together, our collective giving creates extraordinary results. We are proud to support the Tara Area Food Bank and the important work it does in our community.”
The Tara Area Food Bank is a grassroots organization. “We are very grateful for the amazing support of individuals, churches, service clubs, businesses and community groups throughout Tara and the surrounding area, as well as Grey-Bruce Food Share and, of course, this incredible donation from 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce,” said Anne Crocker, member of the Tara Area Food Bank board.
With no government funding, more than 20 volunteers and seven board members work together to ensure individuals and families have access to food and hygiene items with dignity and without judgment.
Each Wednesday, they serve clients ranging from infants to seniors. Clients choose the food their families need rather than receive a pre-determined box. The food bank also operates a clothing bank, provides Christmas support for families, and helps ensure students at Arran Tara Elementary School have access to pizza and milk.
The need for these services continues to grow. The food bank spends more than $1,300 each week purchasing food to keep its shelves stocked. The $41,700 donation will provide significant support, helping the organization continue to respond to the growing number of people seeking assistance.
100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce welcomes new members! Join us at our next meeting on November 14, 2026 to learn how collective giving can make a meaningful difference in our communities.
