Mayor Steve Hammell and Members of Arran-Elderslie Council are pleased to announce that after an extensive recruitment search, Emily Dance has been recruited as the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for Arran-Elderslie effective Tuesday, August 6, 2024.
Dance is a Certified Municipal Officer (CMO) and holds a Public Administration and Governance certificate from Toronto Metropolitan University. With over 17 years of progressive municipal experience, she recently held the position of CAO/Clerk with the Township of Billings. Prior to this, she held the position of Municipal Clerk for the Township of Huron-Kinloss and administrative roles in the Municipality of Kincardine.
As a long-time resident of Bruce County, she brings a wealth of community knowledge and experience. Her leadership focus will be one of collaboration and open communication with staff and the public. She is looking forward to continuing to foster strong community relationships and supporting staff to ensure municipal initiatives are achieved.
“I am honoured to join the team as the Chief Administrative Officer for Arran-Elderslie, I look forward to working in partnership with council, staff, and the community to build on our strengths and address our challenges,” said Dance.
Mayor Hammell is pleased to note, “That Council is looking forward to working with Emily and to assist her in the continued implementation of the corporate strategic plan and strong municipal governance.”
Council also thanks the current CAO, Sylvia Kirkwood, who is set to retire on August 2, 2024, for her leadership and guidance during her tenure and to ensure a supportive transition as Dance starts her new role. “She will be missed but we wish her well on her next chapter,” said Mayor Hammell.
