Bruce County has a new Queen of the Furrow

Bruce County has a new Queen of the Furrow for 2021 – 22.

Allison Pepper, age 24, of Chesley (ON) won the title following having to give a prepared speech, an impromptu response and, of course, the furrow ploughing competition.

Pepper, who has grown up on a farm raising chickens and llamas, is currently enrolled in Ridgetown College where is working toward a Diploma in Agriculture.

“The International Ploughing Match was to be held in Lindsay but because of Covid, it was cancelled,” said Pepper.  “I am hoping that it goes ahead next year and I can attend as Queen of the Furrow.”

“She’s my tomboy,” said dad Richard. “She drives a tractor and doesn’t mind getting ‘dirty’. She is as nice on the inside as the outside.”

Allison Pepper was at Pumpkinfest 2021 in Port Elgin on October 2nd where she attended with her family who also had a registered car at the Cinderella Carriage Classic Car show.
