As local students and teachers continue to adapt to home-schooling, Bruce Power is offering virtual programming for classes Grade 5 to 12.
Bruce Power is offering two virtual presentations on energy every week through the end of the school year for Grades 5-8 and 9-12 respectively, as well as a Careers presentation for high schoolers.
Six classes from anywhere in Ontario and beyond can be accommodated for each presentation, so teachers and home-schooling parents can email BNPDVisitorCentre@brucepower.com to get more information and to register. Please note that Microsoft Teams is required for these presentations, which are held at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays (Grade 5-8) and Thursdays (Grade 9-12).
“Our Energy presentations give students an understanding of Ontario’s entire electricity system, as well as the technological wonder that is splitting the atom for carbon-free nuclear power,” said Jill Hunter, a Communications Coordinator with Bruce Power’s Community Relations department, who delivers the programming. “Our presentations tie in nicely with Ontario’s education curriculum, and teachers, home-schooling parents, and students have appreciated the break from the everyday of online learning.”
Bruce Power is also proud to sponsor the Nuclear Innovation Institute’s Science in the Classroom programming for thousands of students across Bruce, Grey and Huron counties. Topics that are covered in this curriculum-based programming include daily and seasonal changes, soil, conservation and energy, space, and heat in the environment.
