Community Foundation Grey Bruce (CFGB) welcomed the election of four passionate advocates of community philanthropy at the Annual General Meeting held on June 25. CFGB aims to represent the entire region of Grey Bruce, encompassing local municipalities and First Nations. CFGB’s specific charitable purposes include children’s interests, poverty reduction, arts and culture, sports, community betterment, education, health, and the environment.
The following four new members will lend their expertise to the Foundation’s strategy and good governance:
Elizabeth Burrows has lived in Bruce County for over 25 years. She began her career with the Annishnabe of Biigtigong Nishnaabeg on the north shore of Lake Superior and has spent over 20 years as a secondary school teacher with the Bluewater Board. Currently she works with the FLEX program at Georgian College, Owen Sound.
Selwyn Hicks is a partner at Hicks & Hicks in Hanover. He is a former Deputy Mayor of Town of Hanover. In 2019, he was elected Warden of the County of Grey and served three terms in that role. He is an active community volunteer and has won many awards including a Canada 125 medallion and a Lincoln Alexander distinguished service award.
Bob Kanduth is a retired media and government relations professional with a background in public relations consulting and communications advisory roles. He is currently an active volunteer in the Owen Sound community with Bluewater Association for Lifelong Learning and YMCA Owen Sound Grey Bruce.
Neil McCutcheon is a lifelong resident of Grey County. His professional experiences include public accounting and business management in the agriculture and manufacturing sectors. He is the Director of business operations for the Owen Sound Attack Major Junior Hockey team. Neil has volunteered as a minor sports coach and has served as president of Brightshores Regional Hospital Foundation.
Created in 1994, Community Foundation Grey Bruce has a mandate to enhance community vitality by fostering open discussion about local need, sharing knowledge, and growing endowments to provide strategic granting and support to a wide range of non-profit organizations. The Foundation’s vision is that everyone in Grey Bruce benefits from a vital, healthy, and resilient community.
