Bruce County will be implementing an ‘Idle Fee Parking Charge’ effective Saturday, May 13, 2023 for all Bruce County owned EV charging stations.
Once a vehicle is charged, the EV owner will have a 20-minute grace period to move. If the vehicle is not moved within 20 minutes of the charge being completed, their account/credit card will be charged $0.50 per minute.
This measure has been implemented to deter vehicles from being left at charging stations for long periods of time (overnight and continuously over weekends).
A “Parking Charge Fee” notification will be displayed on the EV charging station displays. Frequent users receive notifications, through the charging station app, of any new changes for EV stations they have previously used.
Bruce County EV charging stations are currently available at the Bruce County Administration Centre (30 Park Street, Walkerton), the Peninsula Hub (268 Bedford Street, Wiarton), the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre (33 Victoria Street, Southampton), and the Penetangore Hub (529 Gary Street, Kincardine).
