Local author launches second Cold Case Kids book

Local Author, Doug Archer, has launched his second book in the ‘Cold Case Kids’ series.

Doug Archer with his     first book Ghoul’s Gold

His first book for ages eight plus , Ghoul’s Gold, the Mystery of the Chantry Island Treasure, proved to be popular with both young people and their parents.

In it, he took three young kids, Brogan, Brycen and Heather through strange happenings surrounding Chantry Island’s Imperial Lighthouse in Southampton and rumoured buried treasure.

Archer’s second in the series, entitled, Legend of the Phantom Reaper – The Mystery of the Southampton Shipwrecks, again features the Cold Case Kids.  In this story, the three eleven-year-olds, Brogan, Brycen and Heather – along with their zombie friend, Angus – are at it again.

Travelling a century back in time through an underwater portal, they find a world of shipwrecks, supernatural stories, and mysterious messages.  Can they solve the mystery before another ship is sent to a watery grave?

The book officially came out on October 1st, but advance copies have been available in local stores in Port Elgin (Books & Strings, Turtle Crossings, Port’s Emporium, Revolution Salon, and Rabbit Dash coffee house), Kincardine (Fincher’s Book Store), Southampton (Bruce County Museum, South Stables coffee house), and Goderich (also Fincher’s).

Throughout the fall, Archer will be doing readings at schools and libraries across Bruce and Grey Counties, with the official book launch set for October 27th, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., at the Port Elgin library.

Archer will do a reading at the launch and then sign copies of the book in time for a ‘spooky’ Hallowe’en.

Archer’s books are also available at: www.amazon.ca and www.amazon.com .
