It is with deep sadness that the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie announces the passing of Ross Herron, a dedicated public servant whose contributions to local government and community life spanned more than three decades.
Mr. Herron served for 29 years on Arran Township Council, including 10 years as Reeve, and continued his service for seven years as the Arran Ward representative following amalgamation. In 1987, he was elected Warden of Bruce County, a role in which he represented the County with distinction and integrity.
Throughout his career, Mr. Herron was known for his unwavering commitment to public service, his thoughtful leadership, and his deep care for the people of Arran Township and Bruce County.
“Ross was a pillar of our community,” said Steve Hammell, Mayor of Arran-Elderslie. “His wisdom, humility, and tireless service made a lasting impact on our municipality and region. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.”
Flags at municipal buildings will be lowered in his honour, and a moment of silence will be observed at the next Council meeting.
