OCSTA Trustee receives Presidential Award

Trustee Bev Eckensweiler has received the OCSTA Presidency Award. The Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board is proud to recognize Trustee Bev Eckensweiler for her contributions to Catholic Education in the province of Ontario.

Bev has been a BGCDSB Trustee representing South Bruce since 2006, and served as Vice-Chair from 2008-2012, and Chair of the Board from 2013-2019.

The Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association (OCSTA) Awards Program recognizes Catholic Trustees, Student Trustees and other leaders in Catholic education who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and service to others while exemplifying the values that are at the core of Catholic education.

The Association announced the recipients of this year’s awards at the 2021 Catholic Trustees Seminar on January 16th. Over 200 delegates attended the event that was hosted live on a video-conference platform.

In a new release, OCSTA said that, “OCSTA was pleased to have an opportunity to recognize past-President Beverley Eckensweiler whose term concluded in 2020. During her tenure as OCSTA President Beverley led an active and successful advocacy effort at Queen’s Park and across the province that served to raise the profile of Ontario’s Catholic schools’ priorities and contributions. Beverley also launched a renewed provincial effort to support the Canadian Catholic School Trustees’ Association in their national campaign to assist families across Canada in accessing Catholic education.”

Director of Education, Gary O’Donnell, said that, “Bev is a leader in Catholic Education serving students and families, here in the BGCDSB and also throughout the Province of Ontario, in her role as President of OCSTA. We congratulate her on this much deserved recognition and award.”

Current Chair of the Board, Lori Di Castri, also shared her appreciation for Bev’s contributions. “We offer congratulations and thanks for all Bev has done serving as President of OCSTA, graciously volunteering her time, helping to nurture and enrich the gift of Catholic Education in the province of Ontario, and here in Bruce-Grey.” Congratulations Bev! Bruce-Grey is truly blessed to have you on our team, and we are thankful for your continued leadership.
