Professor Andrea O’Reilly looks at mothering through the ages

A capacity audience came out to listen to Professor Andrea O’Reilly speak on the ‘Changing role of Motherhood’  that looks at motherhood through the ages.

Andrea O’Reilly PhDO’Reilly, a dynamic and passionate speaker, spoke at the Saugeen Shores Women’s Probus Club on June 26th held at Westlinks.

O’Reilly is editor and author of 18 books including ‘Mothers, Mothering and Motherhood across Cultural Differences: A Reader (2014) and ‘Academic Motherhood in a Post Second Wave Context’: Challenges, Strategies, Possibilities’ (2012).

She is also editor of the first encyclopedia on Motherhood (2010) and a recipient of the CAUT Sarah Shorten Award for outstanding achievements in the promotion of the advancement of women in Canadian universities and colleges. 

O’Reilly is also a two-time recipient of York University’s “Professor of the Year Award” for teaching excellence and, in 2015, was the first inductee into the Museum of Motherhood Hall of Fame.

O’Reilly knows her subject and delivered it with humour and lead the audience through times of ‘remember when’ that had them stepping back in time with laughter.
