Public information session: Floodplain mapping around Durham Creek

Aiming to strengthen community resilience and safety, Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority (SVCA), in collaboration with the Municipality of West Grey and D.M. Wills Associates Limited, has initiated a vital study focused on updating the floodplain mapping in the Durham Creek area. This initiative primarily seeks to enhance our understanding of flood risks and explore potential mitigation strategies.

Floodplain mapping plays a crucial role in guiding decisions related to safeguarding people and properties from natural hazards.

We cordially invite residents and other interested community members to a Public Information Centre. Here, attendees will have the opportunity to examine the study area, learn about the intricacies of floodplain mapping, and engage in discussions. The community’s invaluable feedback through anecdotes, written submissions, photographs, and more, particularly regarding any past flooding experiences in this area, is highly encouraged.

Draft results of the study are anticipated to be available this coming winter. The first Public Information Centre is scheduled for: October 2nd, 2023 Municipality of West Grey, Council Chambers 402813 Grey Road 4, Durham ON N0G 1R0 6:30pm to 8:00pm
