In its recent report, the Realtors Association of Grey Bruce Owen Sound (Ragbos) says that 398 units were sold in August of this year which is a 10.9 per cent increase from the same time last year.
In the first eight months of this year, home sales were up 5.9 per cent over the same period in 2019.
The average house price however, rose 18.2 percent over 2019 to 455,382.
New residential listings in the region numbered 411 units in August, 2020 which was unchanged 0% on a year-over-year basis.
Overall, however, supply remains near record lows with a large decline of 43.1% from the end of August, 2019. Part of the reason for the decline is that, once sold, homeowners have few choices in which to live in the area.
The dollar value of all home sales in August, 2020 was $188.9 million, a significant gain of 30.7% from the same month in 2019. This was a new record for the month of August.
Sales of all property types numbered 495 units in August, 2020. This was up 9% from August, 2019.
The total value of all properties sold was $223.6 million, which is 20.3% up from August, 2019.
