On Tuesday, MPP Paul Vickers met with the Tara Curling Club during the Arran-Tara Fall Fair Opening Ceremonies to recognize the work done with a $200,000 Capital grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The grant was given to the Club in 2024 to support facility upgrades and sustainability improvements. The project will ensure that the Tara Curling Club continues to serve as a welcoming and accessible hub for sport, recreation, and community connection for years to come.

“Curling is one of the only sports that people of all ages can play together. It doesn’t matter if you are young or old, curling is adaptive and a social outlet for many community members just the same,” said Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Paul Vickers. “This investment ensures that the Tara community can enjoy this great sport for generations to come.”
The $200,000 grant was used to purchase and install a new ice plant, ensuring the Tara Curling Club remains safe, efficient, and sustainable for members and the broader community. These improvements will strengthen the club’s ability to host curling leagues, youth programs, and community events that bring people together.
“The impact of this Ontario government grant cannot be overstated,” said Krista Gill, representative of the Tara Curling Club. “Our curling club is more than just a place to curl – it’s where friendships are made, where young people learn teamwork, and where the community comes together. Thanks to the support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, we can continue this tradition and ensure the club thrives for future generations.”
The Tara Curling Club has been a cornerstone of the community for decades, fostering recreation, sport, and social connection in Arran-Tara and surrounding areas. The club welcomes curlers of all ages and skill levels, offers youth and adult programming, and provides an inclusive space for recreation and community building.
