The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce is calling on the community for support. The YMCA Strong Communities Campaign is running February 1 – March 31, aiming to raise approximately $20,000 to reach their year-end goal of $100,000.
The Strong Communities Campaign raises funds to support the YMCA’s financial assistance program, which makes the YMCA accessible to everyone regardless of their financial circumstances. April Robinson, Manager of Communications & Fund Development, emphasizes the urgency of the Financial Assistance Program, stating, “In 2022-2023, we provided $83,000 in subsidies, and this fiscal year, we have already exceeded $100,000. The need is growing, with 930 individuals requesting financial assistance in 2023 alone. Donations to the YMCA can be transformative, serving as a turning point in someone’s life.”
As the fiscal year draws to a close, the YMCA urges the community to stand together and make a difference. As a charity, the YMCA is an integral part of our community, and your financial support is crucial.
Businesses or individuals seeking to make a significant impact can participate in the Strong Communities Challenge by pledging $1,200 annually to provide membership access to the YMCA Health, Fitness and Aquatics Centre for a family in need. A pledge of $1,200 per year for a three-year term can provide a family with the enduring health benefits of swimming, sports, fitness, family-focused activities, and quality time together.
Throughout the campaign, the YMCA will be sharing stories from members, volunteers and staff that demonstrate how donations create positive transformations in the lives of individuals within our community. Follow the YMCA on social media (@YMCAOSGB) to read them yourself.
To contribute, donations can be made securely online at www.ymcaowensound.on.ca by clicking the ‘Donate Now’ button in the top right corner, in person at the YMCA Health, Fitness & Aquatics Welcome Desk, or by mailing a cheque to 700 10th Street East, Owen Sound, ON, N4K 0C6, payable to YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce.
