“I would like to extend a warm welcome and congratulations to Stevcon Packaging and Logistics for the opening of their new office and warehouse here in Owen Sound, said Bill Walker, MPP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound and Associate Minister of Energy. “This is terrific news for the entire riding and a huge benefit to our local economy. Stevcon’s commitment to our region highlights yet again the importance of Bruce Power and our nuclear industry when it comes to creating well-paying jobs across Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound and the surrounding area.”

Stevcon, which services the nuclear industry by providing high-quality packaging and logistics of its goods destined for Bruce Power, Ontario Power Generation, and the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station, established its Owen Sound location earlier this year.

Owen Sound Mayor Ian Boddy also offered his congratulations to Stevcon Packaging & Logistics Ltd and welcomed the company to the Scenic City.

“We are pleased to welcome Mr. Steve Warwick and Stevcon Packaging & Logistics Ltd. to our community. Stevcon Packaging & Logistics Ltd. joins an impressive list of Bruce Power suppliers that have relocated to the region. I also acknowledge the hard work and commitment of Bruce Power and OCNI to the region.”

The company has quickly had a positive impact on the local community, hiring workers from the area, supporting the local Indigenous community by being involved in the Habitat for Humanity Nawash Build and the Little NHL Saugeen First Nation Hockey Team, local sponsorships and in-kind donations.

“Stevcon has embraced the opportunity to make a difference in one of our local communities, and the company is a shining example of why we encouraged suppliers to make this investment while they support Bruce Power’s Life Extension Program,” said Mike Rencheck, Bruce Power’s President and CEO. “We appreciate Stevcon’s commitment to not only contributing to the economy in Owen Sound and Grey County, but participating in a variety of programs to improve people’s lives.”

Steve Warwick, President & CEO of Stevcon, previously owned Brent Packaging & Logistics Ltd., in the Greater Toronto Area. Stevcon’s engineering team designs packaging containers for equipment such as tooling, ram assemblies, feeder pipes, liners, end fittings, fuel channels, channel closures, shield plugs and flux detectors, including the design and manufacturing of Type A nuclear containers.

The temperature-controlled warehouse in Owen Sound will meet the necessary nuclear warehousing qualifications.

“Stevcon Packaging & Logistics Ltd. is thrilled to have located in the Tri-County Region, establishing our manufacturing and warehousing facility here in Owen Sound, hiring and buying locally,” Warwick said. “We look forward to continue to service the nuclear industry as we have done for so many years, all the while helping to support the community and infrastructure within the region.”
