Chesley getting ready to celebrate

A new mural is coming to Chesley, and it won’t just be inspired by the community—it will be created by the community!

In celebration of Chesley’s 145th anniversary, the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie and the Chesley Kinsmen Club, with a community grant from Community Foundation Grey Bruce, are partnering to create a unique mosaic mural made from community submissions. The mural will be unveiled prior to Chesley’s Homecoming Celebrations, taking place July 31 – August 3, 2025.

The Municipality is inviting people to submit high-resolution images of original photographs or artwork that reflect the essence of Chesley. Images should showcase the town’s landmarks, history, nature, events, and traditions.

Submission Guidelines:

· Images must capture what makes Chesley special, whether it’s a favourite local spot, a historical moment, or a community tradition.

· Photos containing identifiable people will not be accepted.

· Submission deadline: April 15, 2025.

How to Submit:

Community members can submit images in one of two ways: · Online: Upload images at www.arran-elderslie.ca

· In Person: Drop off printed images at the Municipal Office (an after-hours drop box is available).

This mural is an opportunity for residents to contribute to a lasting piece of public art that tells Chesley’s story—one image at a time.
