UPDATE: More Emergency Department closures due to staff shortages

Due to insufficient staffing, please be advised of the following temporary Emergency Department closures:

NOTE CHANGE BELOW:  [The Durham Emergency Department will be closed on Friday, July 28th at 1700 hours and will reopen on Monday, July 31st at 0700 hours. (62-hour closure)]

The Durham ED will be closed Saturday, July 29th at 0500 hours and will reopen on Monday, July 31st at 0700 hours (48-hour closure).  Contrary to the previous closure notice, the Durham ED will remain open overnight on Friday, July 28th.

The Walkerton Emergency Department will be closed on Sunday, July 30th at 1700 hours and will reopen on Monday, July 31st at 0700 hours (14-hour overnight closure)

Ambulance by-pass has been undertaken to divert patients to the nearest open ED.

Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 911 to be taken to the nearest Emergency Department. For non-urgent health care needs, Health Connect Ontario is available 24/7 for non-emergency health-related questions by calling 811.
