Today, January 9th, the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) asked the public to avoid an area in the Municipality of Meaford due to an ongoing investigation.
At approximately 9:53 a.m., the Grey Bruce OPP were called to a section of the Bruce Trail running west of the Rail Trail near Concession 11 in the Municipality of Meaford.
Officers currently remain on scene, and they are asking members of the public to please avoid the Rail Trail, and sections of the Bruce Trail in and around the area of Concession 11 in the Municipality of Meaford.

The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged two impaired drivers this past weekend: less than twenty-four hours apart.
- On January 7, 2023, at 1:21 a.m., a South Bruce OPP officer on patrol conducted a vehicle stop along Ross Street in Lucknow. The officer found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Intoxilizer Technician for breath tests. A 60-year-old male of Huron-Kinloss Township was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams.
- On January 6, 2023, at 3:07 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received a report of a possible impaired driver along Bruce County Road 3 in Brant Township. Officers located the vehicle and found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Intoxilizer Technician for breath tests. A 27-year-old, of Brantford, was charged with Impaired Driving and Operate over 80 milligrams.
Both accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton to answer to the charges.
An impaired driving charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.
