The Retooling and Economic Recovery Council (RERC), a Bruce Power initiative, has launched an online portal to provide local municipalities, businesses and community organizations with access to affordable personal protective equipment (PPE).
Beginning today, orders for PPE to assist in the fight against COVID-19, can be placed through www.brucepower.com/strength-in-numbers. For organizations which submitted orders in advance, they are now being asked to place their orders through the portal. Orders will be taken within two intake windows: July 27-August 14 and September 21-October 3.
“As we’ve entered Stage 3 of reopening across most of Ontario, a primary focus of the Retooling and Economic Recovery Council is making sure our businesses and non-profit organizations have the protective equipment they need to serve their customers and protect the health and safety of our communities,” said James Scongack, Executive Vice-President of Corporate Affairs and Operational Services at Bruce Power who co-chairs RERC with Richard Horrobin, Bruce Power’s Vice-President and Managing Director, Supply Chain.
“We’re very grateful to Levitt-Safety and Canadian Bearings Ltd. for stepping forward and providing PPE to our Strength in Numbers program, and to the Ontario Chamber of Commerce for making small and medium businesses across the province aware of this initiative.”
Levitt-Safety and Canadian Bearings have both utilized the pre-order submissions to help in sourcing a selection of material to meet the PPE demand. The supplies, which include items such as face masks, hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes, are now available for purchase through the Strength in Numbers portal.
“Strength in Numbers brings together the buying power of major corporations like Bruce Power to provide PPE at competitive rates to small businesses,” said Rocco Rossi, President and CEO of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. “We applaud Bruce Power for providing support to small businesses that have been hit hard during this crisis. We all want to reopen in the safest way possible, and PPE has been expensive, and in some cases, hard to get.
