OPP: Speed of 197km/hr. results in charges and loss of license

An individual from Cambridge was charged while speeding on Highway 6 in South Bruce Peninsula.

On April 27, 2024, at 2:27 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting traffic control on Highway 6 in South Bruce Peninsula when the officer observed a motor vehicle travelling North at a high rate of speed.

The officer activated radar and observed a speed of 197km/hr.

 

A 26-year-old driver from Cambridge was charged with:

·      Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
·      Speeding 1-49km/h over posted limit

The driver appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on April 27, 2024 and had their vehicle impounded for 14 days and driver’s licence suspended for 30 days.

The Grey Bruce OPP is asking all drivers to report dangerous driving behaviour by calling 911 and providing as much detail as possible of the driving complaint including make, model and licence plate of the vehicle, description of the driver and direction of travel.
