Repeat offender arrested on outstanding warrants

A resident of The Blue Mountains remains in custody and is facing drug trafficking and possession charges following an arrest late last week by police.

On Thursday, June 2, 2022, at approximately 1:25 p.m. members of the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) were on Sykes Street in Meaford when they observed an offender wanted on several outstanding warrants. Police were able to intercept the accused while he was walking and he was arrested and taken into custody.

A search incident to arrest revealed the accused to be in possession of suspected Fentanyl and Methamphetamine with a combined estimated street value of just over $3,000.

The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for June 15, 2022, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.

The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) closed a section of Concession 2 in Culross Township while officers conducted a property crime investigation.

Members of the West Region OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Canine Unit, OPP Aviation Services, OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and South Bruce OPP Major Crime Unit are assisting the South Bruce OPP with this investigation.

Investigators are currently recovering a large quantity of stolen property.
